Gustave Doré, "Illustration Canto 31"

In the “Paradiso” of the Divine Comedy Dante the Pilgrim has been through the Underworld and climbed the Mountain of Purgation and Knowledge – and is now ready for the Ascent into the Higher Heavens. He will go on a new Journey with Beatrice towards the Tenth Sphere of the Empyrean, the home of the Blessed and the source of the Divine Light.

As the Pilgrim ascends, the capacity for absorbing the Divine Light and Knowledge increases rapidly, and after the fixed stars he enters a transition point to beyond time and space, to finally arrive in the spiritual realm of light and love, being prepared for the Final Vision and Unification with the Divine.

And then, he must come back to Earth and write the Divine Comedy.
