Welcome to Dante’s Comedy!
Thanks for stopping by, my name is Richard and welcome to this website about the beauty and wisdom of Dante’s Divine Comedy!
In the coming months we’ll be digging deeper into the Comedy’s symbolic meanings of Dante’s work drawing from both the Catholic and Orthodox Traditions of Theology, and the Greek Myth and Philosophy. We’ll also be sharing brief introductions from fellow youtubers and podcasters who are doing great work to present the Comedy and give new perspectives and personal favorites and experiences from the Poem.
Reading and studying the Divine Comedy could be a life-long project – and we’re here to help and support you in that process!
Brief background; I’m an Independent Researcher on the Divine Comedy and Medieval Cosmology with Bachelor level studies of Italian, Literature and Art History, and my passion and interest in Dante comes primarily from a deep personal love of the Comedy, many years of travels and studies in Italy, and living for two years in Florence in 2013-14. I’ve also studied Italian at the Babilonia school in Sicily and Lorenzo di Medici in Florence, and recently taken a course on “Dante e Scienza” at the University of Napoli, with Professore Raffaele Giglio.
We’re currently doing a reading of Paradiso this whole summer – everyone is welcome to join in the conversation in the Reddit community linked below!
